eufy HomeBase™ Professional S1

I’ve been using the Eufy Professional S1 with three Wi-Fi cameras connected to it. Overall, the performance is better than with the HomeBase 3, but honestly, I expected a much bigger improvement considering the price of the S1. One of my main concerns is stability. Some of the cameras occasionally become unresponsive or hang, and I think the system still needs quite a bit of work on the firmware side. There is definitely room for improvement when it comes to optimization and overall stability. The AI recognition is another area where I haven’t noticed a significant improvement over the HomeBase 3. It works reasonably well, but I don’t see a major difference that would justify the considerably higher price. One thing I really like is the backup battery. If the power goes out, the S1 automatically switches to battery mode, and in my experience it can last around 20 hours. That is genuinely useful. However, there is a major downside: the battery is neither accessible nor replaceable. Since the device is normally connected to power 24/7, battery degradation over time is a concern. The cellular/SIM feature is also disappointing. Having a SIM included is a nice idea, but the available data plans are extremely expensive. For example, €16 for just 500 MB is simply not competitive. The pricing really needs to be reconsidered. The iOS app also needs a lot of work. I’m using the latest version, and in my opinion it is noticeably worse than the Android version. There aren’t enough configuration options, information, or advanced settings. For a product at this price point, I would expect much more control and visibility over what the system is doing. Overall, the Eufy Professional S1 has some very good ideas and several genuinely useful features, particularly the battery backup and the improved performance compared with the HomeBase 3. However, it still needs significant firmware improvements, a much better iOS app, and more reasonable cellular pricing. The biggest issue is the price. It’s a good product, but it is very expensive, and at the moment I find it difficult to justify the cost based on the improvements it actually provides. Would I recommend it? Yes, but with reservations. It has a lot of potential, but it needs more polish and optimization to truly justify its premium price. 3 stars for now. With better firmware, a more capable app, a replaceable battery, and more reasonable cellular plans, this could easily become a much more compelling product
