Excellent choice. Purchased two Lifestyle Ultra Speakers to replace a Bose Acoustic Mass system that is 30+ years old. (still sounded great) No regrets, they are setup in stereo and sound incredible!!! May add a soundbar soon.
Versatile Speakers with Excellent Sound These Bose Lifestyle Ultra speakers are compact and very much in line with Bose’s understated aesthetic. Mine have a matte black finish and the discreet controls mean they sit quietly in my room rather than dominating it. Along with the subwoofer and soundbar, they form a cohesive and elegant setup.Setup is simple and intuitive via the Bose app. It feels familiar if you’ve used other Bose products such as earbuds or the SoundLink. There’s no remote, but in practice you don’t miss it as everything is easily controlled via your phone. The whole experience is straightforward and so very appealing for those of us with limited tech savviness. Used as part of the full system with the soundbar and subwoofer, the sound is excellent. It is wholly immersive, with real depth and presence that makes films, sport and TV feel bigger and more engaging.Where they really stand out for me, though, is in their versatility. I’ve also been using them individually as smart speakers, connecting easily to a wide range of streaming platforms. In this mode, the sound is still rich and full, well beyond what you’d expect from something this size.My main interest, however, is vinyl. I had been running my turntable through a decent (but not ludicrously top-end) pre-amp and pair of bookshelf speakers. These Bose speakers not only match that setup but arguably exceed it in clarity and depth. I live in a flat where space is limited and so these speakers offer a genuinely strong alternative, retaining great sound but without the bulk, clutter or spaghetti cabling of the setup I had been using. It would be great if they were rechargeable, so I could move them around and make maximum use of their versatility, but however you choose to use them youre in for a great sound experience.
Stereo Sound is impresive. I bought a pair of Ultra Speakers, configures in Stereo mode and was greatly impresed with the sound quality. The initial wifi configuration was simple, did struggle when changing the speakers to a different network (had to erase from phone and reset speakers).
Audiophile Quality Sound I have been a Bose user and fan for several decades. I have amassed a collection of headphones, earbuds, portable SoundLink speakers, three Bose automobile systems and of course the wonderful, now nearly defunct SoundTouch speakers. Now comes along the new Bose Lifestyle Ultra speakers replacing my two Bose SoundTouch 10 speakers. After getting through the initial set up and a few kinks in the Bose App, I am enjoying the set. The sound is excellent. One method that I use to test how well the audio can reproduce sound with realism (in speakers, headphones, and earbuds), is to play the last few minutes of Tchaikovskys 1812 Overture by the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Vladimir Ashkenazy. The explosions of the cannons is very realistic. You can feel the timber of the guns. The Lifestyle speakers exceeded my expectations. The speakers come with a variety of features that enhance the audio quality. First, there is a three band adjustable EQ:Bass, Mid-range, and Treble to customize the sound. Second, there is a Select Audio Source. You can plug in a wired device using the AUX input or Bluetooth, then there is my preference called AirPlay, utilizing WiFi. The third feature that I like is the ability to reconfigure the speakers by switching the left and right channels on the app. Those are all of the pros. The only cons are:1. There wasnt an operating manual in the packaging; I had to dig one up online, and:2. The app that operates the speakers and the Ultra Headphones and Ultra Earbuds only works on mobile devices. No app exists for desktop computers. Barring these minor inconveniences, I would still give Bose high marks for what I consider to be Audiophile quality speakers I hope that all of the former Bose SoundTouch users like myself enjoy the Lifestyle Ultra speakers as much as I am.
